There are approximately 12,500 faculty and staff members at UBC. Each one of these individuals has an opportunity to champion sustainability in their workplace, research and teaching environment every day.
From exploring alternative energies to recycling printer cartridges, faculty and staff play a major role in the success of UBC’s sustainability efforts. As educators and thought leaders, faculty members inspire and engage students around sustainability issues, and find solutions within their own disciplines. Staff members are influential agents of change, active in every corner of the UBC campus, modelling new sustainable behaviours and inspiring those around them to follow. Together, faculty and staff have helped UBC to achieve and maintain its global position as a sustainability leader.
