UBC aims to provide all its students with an exemplary education, and empower them to become passionate decision-makers and leaders committed to creating a more sustainable future. Through campus-wide awareness campaigns, groups, programs and events, UBC offers many avenues for students to learn about sustainability and participate in one of its core missions: to embed sustainability into the DNA of the University. Students themselves are also drivers of change, and UBC seeks to inspire and support student-driven efforts to address sustainability on campus, such as waste reduction programs and climate action initiatives.
To formalize their commitment to sustainability, UBC students can sign the UBC Sustainability Pledge, or participate regularly in the many sustainability activities and initiatives on campus. At the heart of UBC’s sustainability activities for students is a sense of curiosity, fun and adventure.
