The Pledge is modeled after the U.S. Graduation Pledge and was created in 2002 by a group of enthusiastic students with the support of the UBC Sustainability Office and UBC Student Development.

Pledge Vision

To encourage UBC students to live more sustainably and to become active leaders in the transition toward sustainability at UBC and beyond.

Pledge Objectives

1. Raise awareness over issues of environmental sustainability and participation in campus sustainability
2. Provide UBC specific actions students can take to be more socially and environmentally responsible during their academic career
3. Connect students to sustainability initiatives, resources, courses, workshops and events at UBC
4. Support students in their efforts to live a more sustainable lifestyle at UBC
5. Demonstrate that UBC students are committed to sustainability on campus.
