Thursday, November 18, 2021 - 17:00

Thu, November 18, 2021 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM UBC Vancouver Campus. Join the Centre for Community Engaged Learning's Social Impact Lab on Activating Solidarity Economies for an interactive opportunity to learn from community organizations that prioritize environment and social objectives before profit and how they act and advocate upon values of solidarity, sharing and caring in their work. Session 2: Strategize for Action will allow students and participants to identify opportunities and propose projects to re-imagine our economy for a just, inclusive and sustainable future.

Social and solidarity economies (SSE) refer to a range of community-based organizations that prioritize social and environmental objectives over profit, use democratic/cooperative forms of worker management, act upon values of solidarity, sharing and caring, and are inclusive and rooted in the community. Many of these organizations are driven by climate action in their mission or focus on solutions for climate justice.

During the event, you'll have the opportunity to collaborate with other participants to brainstorm and plan a project to re-imagine our economy for a just, inclusive and sustainable future. Project groups will have the opportunity to pitch their project idea during the final pitch party event on December 2, 2021.

Join us for an evening of collaboration, experimentation, and exploration as we bring our ideas to action to build a just, and sustainable future.
